"I FEEL CALLED UPON TO..."

At the end of the Global Cooling Café participants were asked, “What do you feel you are CALLED upon to do?” Below are a collection of those answers.

In the next two days we will be contacting the “point person” for each of the following action items. It will be up to the point person to contact those who originally signed up at the café on the same “action item” card. If you did not sign up for anything and would like to please call 530-470-8642 or email staff@powerup-nc.org. We will assist you in contacting the point person for the action item(s) you are interested in…

I FEEL CALLED UPON TO (Action Item):

  • Work with the Clean Power Co-op to conduct a program to help Seniors change to CFLs in the fall
  • Continue doing New Hope Transfusion Presentations
  • Support clean energy education and outreach
  • Help with the upcoming Power Palooza
  • Build soil to hold more moisture (which will hold more carbon)
  • Teach about the Powers of the Universe/Brian Swimm’s Work
  • Advocate for and hand carry energy saving proposals to GV and NC Council
  • Replace my 17 year old VW which gets 40 mpg with a newer, much more reliable, 40 mpg.
  • Make solutions to climate change a part of my every day language and inspire others to do the same
  • Have schools conduct an “energy audit; a contest that kids can work with their parents on (maybe do the Low Carbon Diet)
  • Join or form an Eco-Team to use the Low Carbon Diet Plan Book to reduce personal footprint
  • Develop a permaculture display in the ag building at the county fair to show/demonstrate how to live relatively sustainably in the county (low carbon footprint)
  • Work for carpooling to Nevada County Schools and reduce emission of vehicles waiting to pick-up children
  • Help plan more Cooling Cafes
  • Make it easier for more people to use bicycles around town for daily transportation
  • Get a “Green Link” on NC and GV Chambers of Commerce
  • Get and use a sturdy clothes line
  • Develop a source food for my chickens from my homestead
  • Build a center for sustainable living to teach people about nature and how to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. In particular, an eco-friendly garden
  • Spread practical solar ovens building and cooking skills to Nevada County
  • Write an occasional article for the Union
  • Put together an intergenerational café
  • Let our elected officials know that we’re “mad as hell and not going to take it anymore”
  • Hear and see positive movement in the non-choir
  • Get involved in more grassroots politics
  • Create a spiritual growth retreat on the environment and our care for the earth
  • Continue to tell people one-on-one ways that they can make positive changes
  • Act as a resource and model

Soon I hope we can get the email address of the person who will help to organize each of these worthy actions posted here on this site, so that more of us can contribute our energy.
